Introducing KONG Magazine

KONG Magazine is pleased to announce the launch of its inaugural issue on Friday, July 2, 2010. This bi-monthly magazine will be available both online and with a limited edition print version containing all the original artwork from the site. KONG Magazine is a sex and comedy publication that seeks to bring stimulating entertainment and art to women around the world.

Creative Director and Founder, Jessica Moats, uses her impressive background at publications such as New York-based Playgirl and BlackBook Magazines, to create a magazine that will fill the void in the current women’s interest market. KONG Magazine creates an interface were sexual interests coincide with cultural ones by offering the newest trends in music, art, foreplay, design, humor, comedy, politics, technical innovations (including vibrators and other sex gadgetry) and photography—the X-rated kind.

The first issue seamlessly blends the mission of KONG Magazine by entertaining, informing, and promoting collaborations between emerging artists and writers. Cover model, Greg Sestero of famed cult classic, The Room best exemplifies the magazines’ ability to effortlessly mix sex and comedy.

All of this strikes me as I look at my images of nude women from the past 3 years: idealized, exaggerated, absurd, deformed, decayed, darkness & shadows, unnatural, shame, innocence, desire and temptation, hidden and exposed.

……….Ever since I was a young girl I have loved Polaroids. I have about 1500 of them, dating all the way back to when I was little. To me, Polaroids are like precious jewels, you cannot recreate them. I think it’s one of the greatest inventions of modern times.

I was a Polaroid junkie and If I didn’t have any Spectra film on hand I felt uncomfortable, because that meant I was unprepared for any beautiful, sexy, interesting moments that might come up.

I want to make a book of all my Polaroid work someday. I look forward to meeting the right publisher. I can’t wait to try the new film that is coming out. Thank God Polaroid is making a come back!

……….The studio is pleased to announce that after recent correspondence, Dutch fashion model Justine Bakker may be coming out of retirement to work on an erotic fashion editorial for Tony Ward Productions. TW was the first international photographer to discover the androgynous star back in the late nineties when he first began shooting and producing in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Recently, the Studio has been contacted to produce a series of pictures for the 30th anniversary issue of German Cosmopolitan. As he began the casting process his former model came to mind.Shortly after he provided Justine with the confidence to move forward as a fashion model, Mario Testino discovered her and she soon after wound up on the cover of Italian Vogue. Her range is uncanny, from the androgynous editorial shoot Justine produced with TW for Blend Magazine to DKNY international ads, shot by Peter Lindbergh.

Like most models in their 30’s Justine thought she was at the end of the line. She took some time off, and now is contemplating a return to an industry where she was very well received.

Cuba is truly a country on the edge. It’s government, for 50 years the authoritative body over the island’s 11,000,000 people, seems forever on the verge of collapse. The people themselves live constantly in flux, with the promise of freedom one day or prison the next. In Old Havana, people lurk in and of the shadows and the sun’s constant glare seems to ask more questions than it illuminates.

Havana is a street photographer’s paradise. The alleys and streets are a constant swarm of human activity, and moments surreal or all too real unfold in an unending stream of live theater. In the five times I’ve visited the island since 1997, there remains one constant in Cuba: the love of life, whether it’s a couple in embrace on the Malecon or kids who seem to dance in the streets to the beat of the ubiquitous music.

TW met with his long term publisher Claude Bard and his assistant Anne Hautecoeur yesterday in Paris to review printers proofs from his forthcoming book entitled, “WASTELAND”. Mr. Bard is the owner and publisher of La Musardine, one of the most highly respected imprints of erotica in the world. TW and his publisher first teamed up in the year 2000, when his renowned book of erotica was published entitled, ORGASM, under Mr. Bard’s oversight. It was to be followed two years later by the sequel ORGASM XL.In the year 2000, TW embarked on a new project, to photograph over a period of time the largest fetish party in the world, held twice yearly in Amsterdam, thus the title of the new book and and also the name of the famous fetish extravaganza. The WASTELAND project has been the most prolonged project of the artist’s career.

Mr. Bard assured Wasteland producer Rene Meuessen during a telephone conference, that the first printing of the monograph will be made available to the public at a book signing to take place at the next Wasteland event on April 17th, 2010 in Amsterdam. TW is looking forward to attending the event.

The book is dedicated to TW’s best friend and assistant Frans Verlinden. Mr. Verlinden was the former art patron, Winston Hotel owner and founder based in Amsterdam, who was at TW’s side over the many years of documentation of the event. Mr. Verlinden passed away in 2006. He is sorely missed.
