…..Blend is to mix smoothly and inseparably together or to mix in order to obtain a particular kind or quality. A perfect title for the avant guarde publication born in 2005 from a collective of Dutch visionaries from Amsterdam. The studio was delighted to be participate in producing some of the first fashion spreads for the new publication. Today Blend has grown and evolved in to the mainstream and has morphed in to a popular culture icon in Holland and beyond.

Blend Fashion

The intention was to design a lifestyle publication for people that enjoy contemporary music, art, film, fashion and photography. With an ear to the ground for what is happening on the street, Blend editors are quick to point out trends that are happening in the alleyways and on main street with an intense passion and regard for all of the the topics that attract their growing 21st century readership.
Besides the regular issues of Blend which appear on newsstands eight times a year, they also collaborate with external parties such as the Stedeliijk Museum of Holland to create unique publications that are referred to as Special Blends. These additional publications have featured the work of Andy Warhol for example……

Reuben Harley

…..The man who brought in huge sales as marketing director for Philadelphia’s Mitchell and Ness Sporting Goods store by introducing throwback jerseys to numerous celebrities including P. Diddy, Alan Iverson and various other stars, will be collaborating with the studio on a series of fashion shoot’s for this blog in the near future. Big Reub as he is referred to by friends, is also busy consulting with leaders in the fashion industry in his search to establish the next big fashion trend. Recently, Reuben met with representatives of Wolford, the Austrian marketer and manufacturer of fine hosiery and lingerie for women at their New York offices to discuss a campaign to increase awareness of the brand in the U.S. market.

He has set aside a $500.00 pair of Zac Posen/Wolford hosiery for the first shoot. We have been looking forward to collaborating with Mr. Harley for some time. The time has arrived……stay tuned……!

At Home With Becky Lewis

…..When you enter her home even on the brightest of days it’s dark. The first thing you notice are the black walls. Ms. Lewis chose black because it has a calming effect on her. Perhaps a way to escape the hustle and bustle of Philadelphia’s, Port Richmond neighborhood. She didn’t grow up in the city however, and that’s where her story get’s more interesting.

Becky grew up in the suburbs of Wilmington, Delaware, which she asserts she hated as a child. Her father an emergency room physician. Her mother a registered nurse. She absolutely adores her parents. Good schools, private schools at that, can do great things for the mind of a child. The education opened up many doors to Becky’s inherent creativity. She left the nest early however, just eighteen. College was not in the cards, a yearning for life in a bigger city, she moved to the city of brotherly love.

Fascinated by tattoo’s at an early age, the arrival in to the big city provided her access to Philadelphia’s sizable tattoo culture. Ms. Lewis has become one of the icons of that culture. You’ll be seeing and hearing more about Ms. Lewis soon……

….The studio is pleased to announce that we have been commissioned by Sonya Bright to produce a series of pictures of Ms. Bright, as part of an advertising and promotional campaign to launch a series of tanning salons under her ownership. Stay tuned for the latest collaboration between TWS and the new tanning salon owner. We are in production and on location today and can not wait to show you the results……….!

Issac Mizrahi

…Isaac Mizrahi started to make his own clothes in the late 80’s and began to show his wears at trunk shows at the famed Bergdorf Goodman department store in New York City. The native new yorker born in Brooklyn, exploded on to the international fashion scene in the mid-nineties when fashion house Chanel bought a stake in his company.

When I met him to take this candid portrait, he was on a roll, as he was making a personal appearance at Neiman Marcus. Enormously creative, Isaac embarked on a number of different projects since, including a successful run when he designed a collection for Target beginning in 2002 to 2008, making his name commonplace in the American fashion culture. It will be exciting to see what Mr. Mizrahi produces next for Liz Claiborne where he is currently creating……

Sascha is a world renowned stylist and creative director who for many years worked alongside the legendary Helmut Newton on some of his most coveted assignments. Sascha and I collaborated on this shoot for Spoon magazine on location in Los Angeles……..
